How PopcornFinder handles your data
Last updated: 1 October 2026
PopcornFinder (popcornfinder.com and the PopcornFinder iOS app) helps you find cinema showtimes in London. We collect as little as we can. This page explains what we do collect, why, and how to reach us.
The iOS app
The app works without an account and does not ask you to sign in.
- Location. If you allow it, the app uses your location to sort cinemas by distance and to power the "near me" filter. Your location is used on your device only. It is never sent to our servers or to anyone else, and the app does not store it after you close it.
- Showtimes. The app downloads showtimes, cinema details and film information from our server over HTTPS. These requests contain no account, device identifier or location; our server sees your IP address as part of handling the request, as any web server does, and keeps it in short-lived server logs only.
- Booking. Tapping a showtime opens the cinema's own website inside the app. From that point on the cinema's privacy policy applies; we do not see what you do there.
- No analytics, no tracking. The app contains no analytics SDKs, advertising identifiers or third-party trackers.
The website
- Accounts. Signing in is optional and uses Google. We store the email address, name and profile picture Google provides, plus the lists you build (watched films, watchlist, saved cinemas and stations). You can delete these from your account page at any time, or ask us to delete your account.
- Usage analytics. We use PostHog, Google Analytics and advertising pixels (Meta, Reddit) to understand how the site is used and to measure our own advertising. These tools use cookies and may record how pages are used. Our own server-side visit statistics store only a one-way hash of your IP address and browser, never the address itself.
- Showtime data. Showtimes come from UK cinema listings and film information from TMDB. Booking links take you to the cinema's own website.
What we do not do
- We do not sell personal data.
- We do not show third-party ads inside the app or the website.
- We do not collect data from children knowingly; the service is intended for adults choosing cinema trips.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days. In the iOS app you can revoke location access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published here with an updated date.
